How to Lose Weight after Pregnancy

Weight gain after pregnancy is very common to new moms since they have to take care of the baby which can be too much for some moms.

But don’t worry! Here are some tricks you can use to help you lose weight after pregnancy without exhausting you.

Give Time for Yourself

This is easier said than done for every mom out there. But you should take care of yourself so that you can take care of others. And that includes giving time to get in shape.

You can do this by asking a friend or relatives to watch over the baby, so that you can have time to exercise. There are some fitness centers have Kids’ Clubs that offer infant care. Or if you don’t want to go to a gym you can just exercise whenever the baby takes a nap.

Remember that what matters is the total time spent on working out and not if you’ve done an hour-long session or four 15-minute workouts each day.

Eat Nutritious Foods

On contrary to popular belief new moms need enough calories to get through each day and even more if they’re breastfeeding.

Your metabolism will slow down as much as 20-30% if you don’t eat enough calories. And remember to avoid junk foods, since they don’t give you and your baby the energy and nutrients that you need.

Rather than eating 3 large meals a day, try eating smaller portions of food several times a day and remember to eat something nutritious every 2-3 hours.

Calcium will also help you burn fat faster since it kicks your fat-burning metabolism into high gear. You can get plenty of calcium from dark green vegetables and low-fat dairy products.

Exercise With the Baby

You don’t have to lose weight by yourself; you can bring your baby a long and lave a lot of fun! Try joining an online weight loss community and connect with other new moms in your area who want to join you and your baby for stroller walks and swimming with your babies. There are also recreational centers that give baby-and me exercise classes that you can attend.

But if you don’t like to exercise with groups you can go for long walks with your baby using a stroller. You can do this at the zoo, the mall or a local park. And if your baby can walk on their own you can take them to a playground and join them in running around and playing with them.

Ask for Help

If you can’t lose weight after pregnancy alone you can try to go support networks. They can give you a morale boost and even have a babysitting service. Friends and family also play a vital role in your success.

Find a good community of new moms who are trying to lose weight. Read about their obstacles and how they have learned to overcome them. Then share your own tips for success. This is important because it will give you a feeling that you’re not alone.

Get Enough Sleep

For new moms this isn’t easy to follow. You need to get enough sleep so that you won’t have physical and emotional problems.

You can ask your husband or a friend or relative to take care of the baby if it cries at least 3 times every week while you get 8-10 hours of sleep. You can also use ear plugs if needed. The high-quality sleep will help you in many ways.

As for breastfeeding moms, you might have to wait a little longer before you can get adequate sleep. Catch naps whenever you can, and keep a positive mindset and remember that, someday soon, your baby (and you) will be sleeping through the night.
