Losing Pregnancy Weight
The joys of having a baby are countless but there’s a problem that all women have after giving birth and that is gaining weight after giving birth.
And celebrity moms show that they get rid of their pregnancy weight at the drop of the hat. But these celebrity moms have something that you don’t; doctors, nutritionists, personal trainers, private chefs, and not to mention the miracles of Photoshop experts to help them look their best after pregnancy.
And you ask yourself, “What can a regular mom do to lose pregnancy weight?”
Don’t worry because there are a lot of things that a regular mom can do to lose pregnancy weight in an easy and healthy way. Here are some helpful tips to get you started:
Ask for help
Being a mom is a full time job and most of your time is spent on taking care of your new born child and yourself. This is why almost all moms don’t have time to exercise and this is where friends and family come in.
You can always ask your family and friends to do some of the work like grocery or watching the baby while you exercise. There are some recreation centers and gyms that offer babysitting services, even for infants, to give you privacy while you exercise.
Eat right
As tempting it might be eating junk food is not a good idea especially after giving birth. This is because pregnancy is hard on the body and also because what you eat is what your child gets if you do breastfeeding. You can speed up your recovery by eating several small, balanced meals per day. And also remember to eat lean protein, green vegetables, high-fiber fruits, dairy products, and whole grains because these foods must be your main source of where you get your calories.
But if you breastfeed your child, you need more calories to keep you and your baby healthy. And don’t forget to drink plenty of water as well. Since new moms need at least 64 to 128 ounces a day, especially while nursing.
Get Moving
Cardio exercises are essential if you don’t want to feel drained after taking care of the baby. Aside from keeping you healthy and energetic it will also help you lose weight faster.
You don’t need to go to the gym to exercise or workout; you can do it in the garden while the baby is taking a nap under the shade or even better yet, you could go for a long walk while pushing the baby in a stroller.
You should do 30 minutes of cardio 5 times a week whenever you have the time and you’ll notice that your energy level actually goes up, while the scale goes down!
You can also do yoga which is proven to reduce stress and lose weight. Do some stretches and poses after you wake up for a burst of energy and do breathing and meditative exercises before bed for a more restful sleep.
Sleep well
Having a good night’s sleep is very important for a mother that has just given birth because even just a small sleep deficit like one to two hours a night can cause problems such as lack of focus, compromised immune system, and delayed healing ability.
Again, you can get enough sleep by asking for help from your family and friends or by catching naps throughout the day to keep your energy up and also try to sleep when the baby does to get the most out of your periods of rest.
By taking care of yourself you can also take care of your new born baby. With the right combination of nourishment, exercises, and plenty of rest, you’ll be on track to lose pregnancy weight fast.
